This reminds me of when my college friend Jay Sacher (who rocks btw) made up these "I *heart* Tina Yothers" stickers and plastered the Back Bay with them. Genius.

So, it all started with an iMac. Seriously. Actually, perhaps it was a phone call about the iMac. Backtrack: Last Monday night at around 11:45 pm, the phone rang. It was my roommate's strange ex-boyfriend. The ex-boyfriend who, out of the blue, just got up and left her high and dry last spring. Anyway, that was him on the phone. He tells Lael, that he bought her an iMac because he knew that her pc was on the way out and she should expect it on Thursday or Friday. This is my own personal observation: he's full of shit. He's crazy and is just saying that. The next day she gets a FedEx tracking number in an email. Weird. I come home from work on Thursday and, as always, she's already home. The benefit of being a school teacher I suppose. She's rather excited and is showing me the note that FedEx left because no one was home. Lael tells me she doesn't know if she'll be home on Friday to receive it either. I offer to drive to the FedEx facility seeing as how it's not that far from our apartment. After I get something to eat, I declare, "Off to the Batmobile!" and we are on our way.

We walk to my car and despite not having driven my car in a week, it starts right up and we're off to FedEx. We get there in less than ten minutes and the guy at the counter tells us that particular truck isn't back yet and that we have two options. One: we can wait for the truck to return which would take twenty minutes. Two: if we can get back to the apartment in ten minutes. We opted for number two. We drive back to our place and there is the FedEx truck across the street for our place. We knock on the truck's door and the driver opens up, "You looking for a computer?" Indeed we are. After pleasantries were exchanged, we dashed back into our apartment and immediately open up the box, set it up and turn it on. We both ooh and ah and play with it for the rest of the night.

The next morning I got up and around for work. Since our street has permit parking I have to move my car because I don't have a permit yet. No problem I think - I have secret parking spots nearby that do not require permits. I turn my car on without difficulty and let it warm up while I brush off the newly fallen snow. I get in and start to drive off. I only get three houses down and the car dies. Maybe I didn't let it warm up long enough I think to myself. I easily coast into an empty spot on the street and try to restart my car. No go. I go back inside trying to remain calm. I get something to eat. I check my email. I go back out and try the car again. Still nothing. Now a little pissed, I go back in and throw a fit. I call up my dad to tell him I might need a ride for this weekend and we discuss the problem. He thinks it may be the battery. I do not. By this time, I'm late for work. I decide to chance leaving the car. I have racked up a number of parking tickets and the local police are quite familiar with my car. It's gotten to the point where even if I have a guest pass, they will still ticket me. I've noticed the last two tickets have had the word "Abuser" in the comment field noting both the guest pass number and my license plate. I figured I either get another ticket or booted or towed and to be perfectly honest, I didn't care. However, I decide to try the car one more time before I walked to work. It starts on the first turn without a fuss. Not convinced, I sit there for about five or ten minutes idling the car. I put it in drive and pull away. So far, so good. I go to my top secret parking places only to find they are none left. What to do? I figured I might as well drive into Harvard Square for work and put it in a garage. Sure, the garage would cost me about $20, but a ticket would be $15, and if I get booted or towed it could be much more. Six to one, half dozen to the other, I reasoned. I drove to work. I parked. I worked. I drove home. No problems. I decided to head to the 'rents that night instead of Saturday morning as I had originally planned, thinking that the car's working - go with it. I eat and get my stuff together and got back into the car. It didn't start. A mere two hours after having driven it and it wouldn't start. Ugh. A call to my dad and he tells me that he has to pick up my brother at the airport at 11 pm. He says he'll come get me Saturday morning if it doesn't start. I tried and tried again to no avail. I call the 'rents and my mom tells me that my dad had already left, but that he told her before he left that he might as well pick me up that night. She tells me that she call him on his cell phone and call me back. I get the call and she tells me that he and my brother are getting something to eat and will be on their way shortly. Eventually, my dad arrives and asks me if I want to try to start my car before we go. I figure what the hell. It starts on the first turn. Sonnuvabitch, I thought. We decided to drive my car with my dad following. I tell him I will need to stop for gas at some point. Fine he says and we're off.

So, we're on the MassPike heading for Connecticut and I pull into a rest stop to get gas. I make the mistake of turning off my car while I go to the bathroom. The car doesn't start again that night. I get in my dad's car and I am thoroughly pissed at this point. We get to my parents' and everybody goes to sleep except for me because I'm so pissed. I take that time to do my stockpile of laundry. Watched that hilarious, British tranny (I forget his name. Help anyone?) on HBO. I think I actually get two hours of sleep. My father runs some errands in the morning and we drive back up to Massachusetts to see if we can get the car going. We get to the rest stop I left my car at and we can't get it to start. So we leave there not sure where to get it towed, but surmising the fuel pump is the culprit. (Trust me. I have my reasons for thinking that.) I'm getting grumpier and grumpier as time goes on. We drive back to Connecticut and it is soon dinner time. My mom makes lasagna. She makes a special one for me since I'm the lone vegetarian in the house. I dish myself out some and notice something funny about it. It has little pieces of meat in it. Somehow or another it seems that my vegetarian lasagna got contaminated. My mom feels bad and I make her feel worse by refusing to eat it and telling her she doesn't have to make anything new after she offers. I start to feel bad for my mom, but I'm certainly not going to eat meat for her. It was an accident I think, no big deal. It happens, right? As dinner went on my mom seemed to feel worse and, accordingly, I did too .

So, my holiday weekend is off to a glorious start. My dad and I are going to try the car again tomorrow or have it towed or something. I was in a fairly bad mood until I got an email that made me feel warm and fuzzy. You are quite welcome be the way. I know you really wanted this, but you weren't expecting that anyway. I'm glad you like it. I hope you're hoilday is a special one. Oh, yeah. You are certainly under NO obligation to return the favor. :) And, yes, this entry and most others have serious tense problems. Oh, well.

Remember when I said that thing about not doing any online shopping this year? I lied.

Overheard a rather disgruntled "gentleman" at lunch today telling his lunchmate that he was going to buy his "faggot son" a dress for Christmas. Sounds like there will be a cheery Christmas morning at that household.

I'm feeling bigger and fatter by the moment.

Did a lot of stupids things in the past week or two. A lot of stupid, minor things that will make me feel like crap for a while.

Crap, crap and more crap. Ida is sold out! Crap. What am I going to do now? Movie? Nothing too appealing out right now. Hmm...sit at home like always?

Still feeling like a big, fat dork. Actually a bigger and fatter one.

Some guy is in Harvard Square with an Al Gore mask and a sign that states: "LOST JOB - WILL WORK FOR FOOD OR CHADS." Seems typical of what a radio station would do for a stunt.

Particularly nasty day today. Toscanini's hot chocolate hits the spot though.

Finally noticed that Dischord finally has their own site up rather than the set up they had at Southern. The new site is slick, yet simple and honest. The about page on the new site, penned by Mr. MacKaye himself, is an interesting read giving us a brief history of Dischord Records. Twenty years: That's how long Dischord has been around. Twenty years! There are major labels that haven't lasted that long. It's great knowing that a label with integrity and a focus on music and art and not money can last. Ian MacKaye has always considered himself a documentarian of the music scene around him. I think with Dischord he has done a great job. Not to mention I was pleased to read that Instrument is currently in the midst of getting the DVD treatment. That rocks.

Lazy Saturday.

I spent last night enjoying the the first significant snow fall (which still wasn't so significant) along with several houses well lit in a festive mood. I wasn't in much of a festive mood. But then, I never am. I walked to the drugstore to get a battery and film for a camera I haven't used in almost two years.

I got back home and cleaned my tub which seemed do have developed a nasty film. Action and adventure on a Friday night. Yeah, you know my name. I straightened up the living room a little which was only lit by our pinecone Christmas tree that Lila's mom made, the lava lamp and some white Christmas lights adorning a human skull on the bookshelf at that point. Yes, it's real. No, don't ask. I got reaquainted with my camera and took some pictures. I thought about everything and nothing at the same time.

Back to today, took a brisk walk to the bank and post office this morning. Ran some more errands. Wrote a much too long email. Thinking of catching Princess Mononoke at the Brattle tonight.

I'm having one of those moments where I'm listening to an album that is somewhat old. When it came out it was huge and you couldn't escape from it. I learned to despise it for that reason, but now I'm listening to it and realizing what a solid album it really is. Moments like those are good.

Job interview is done. I had to wait almost twenty minutes once I got there but it's done. Afterward, I consulted my associates. Magic Eight Ball said to ask again later. The Affrimation Ball asked me if I had lost weight. I gave it another shake and it told me that I was 100% fun. This, we already knew.

Aside from another great email this morning, the highlight of the day has to be getting an email from my friend Radhaballabha from Vrindavana. I remember my stay in Vrindavana, when I frequented Biharilal's, Radhaballabha's father store, getting nimbu panis and nimbu sodas in the afternoons and dahi in the mornings. Vrindavana is a very nice place. Some friends are going in January and I wish that I was going with them. The email is in my pocket though.

Coy? Perhaps...

So my job interview for this morning was postoned. Twice. Twice! First from 10am to 11am and now to 11:30am. I hope this isn't a sign as to what's to come.
